Casino Royale 007 (spoilers!) 25 November, 2006

If there is a day that people would wear tuxedos to the theaters, it would be today.

It was the premiere of the latest 007 movie – Casino Royale – here in Bergen.  I was fortunate to get invited by ‘Q’ to a Premierefest (Premiere Party) where I had a chance to hobnob with the rich and sophisticated of Bergen.

The night started with free-flowing champagne in a private room in the Bergenkino theater until the much-anticipated viewing of Casino Royale.  We will probably see some familiar faces on the papers tomorrow as news cameras snapped away endlessly.  The movie itself was entertaining – two and a half hours of true James Bond sophistication, action and romance (critics have said that we actually see more ‘human emotions’ in the new film).

And as in all Bond films – they had to crash ultra nice new cars.

Crew of the James Bond movie smashed up £500,000 worth of 007 cars in one afternoon – reports The Sun.  Three identical Aston Martin DBSs were flipped on their roofs during shots for a high-speed Alpine chase.  And within hours of the start of filming, the special edition V12 Astons created for the movie were wrecks.

It’s exactly the sort of thing James Bond would do.

The British car maker created the DBS for new 007 Daniel Craig. It is not on sale, but experts say one would cost at least £165,000.

The after-party was complete with choice drinks – from martinis to wine or cognac (we’re missing the Akevit tonight…) - and excellent buffet tapas at a nice home halfway up the Fløyen overlooking the city.  The house could’ve passed for one of Bond’s as well, albeit built in the 1930’s by a famous Bergensere architect.  And for those who were up to it, a room was reserved for high-stakes poker with a blind-bet of 300 000 dollars.

Shout outs to Geir, Janniche, Alf Johan and Per Bjørnar for organizing the premierefest.  Vi gledde oss!
